I also have this same problem. The exception is exactly the same. It started recently but I can't really tell exactly when. I use Artifactory 2.1.1
I tried to download the pom from repo1 being on the Artifactory server - it downloads as a valid XML file, no proxy errors, though the server is behind a proxy. Hope to see a solution to this soon.
