This issue seems to stem from a bug in Spring LDAP integration 
(https://jira.springsource.org/browse/LDAP-190?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels%3Aall-tabpanel#issue-tabs).


We will try to see if we can work around this bug from within Artifactory.


We will keep you posted.


Are you also looking to use LDAP groups? if so do you also have spaces 
in your group DNs?
