I'm not sure why it is that big (maybe remains of more than just few days).
There's an open bug I think related to your issue:
https://issues.jfrog.org/jira/browse/RTFACT-3426
It only happens on windows machines and a bit hard to reproduce. Which OS
are you using? Does Artifactory log file contains errors/warning regarding
deletion of those files?
In any case it is safe to delete those files when the indexer is not
executing.
