Thanks for the reply. Yes, if I configure my Artifactory repo as the
"central" and "snapshots" repo in my settings.xml, it works.

The Artifactory plugin has a way of hooking into a Maven 3 build so you
don't have to configure anything in settings.xml in order to resolve or
deploy artifacts. The URL and username/password are configured in the
Jenkins global config and in the job config. I was hoping the same
mechanism would for parent-pom resolution, but I guess it doesn't -
anyway, the workaround is easy.
