Derby can be used for production.
It might be worth specifying this in the wiki, but since you are using an
old version of Artifactory, you are also using the old bundled Derby
datastore implementation that stores the artifacts as well as the metadata
within the DB; a method which was found inefficient.
Since this observation was made, Artifactory was modified to be bundled
with a datastore implementation stores only the metadata in the DB and the
artifacts on the file system; this implementation performs much better and
is actually successfully used in production by a number of our customers.
Obviously, it'll only perform well to a certain extent, and we always
recommend that a standalone DB such as MySQL be used in conjunction with
Artifactory.
