We are investigating how we'll use Artifactory to replace our current runtime
file repository - PVCS.

Some of our project teams lay out directory trees in SVN consisting of
non-java files (ex: properties). The build takes these SVN directories and
files and lays them into PVCS preserving the tree structures. Our deployment
tool pulls the tree from PVCS and pushes the files onto the runtime servers
again preserving the tree structure.

Artifactory seems not to allow us to publish arbitrary trees of artifacts.
What might be an alternative approach to use with Artifactory?

We could have our builds create zip files directories and publish these as
artifacts into Artifactory? Our deployment tool would explode the zip files
onto the runtime. This would leave us without the ability to take one file
on the runtime box, generate a SHA1sum and find the matching file in
Artifactory. This SHA1sum lookup seems like it could be a nice "forensic"
tool in our environment.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Richard
