The http://sourceforge.net/p/forge/community-docs/yum-repo-in-frs/ link I
provided earlier for SourceForge describes the steps necessary for (I
assume) a SourceForge project owner to follow to enable the files for a
project to be accessible via YUM through
http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/sourceforge/wiki/Release%20files%20for%20download
SourceForge's File Release System (FRS) . I have no experience with this,
but from a cursory reading, it would appear that this is a one time setup
(at least, per release) that permits the files the project owner is already
uploading for HTTP access to be retrieved by users via YUM as well. SF's FRS
manages the mirror redirections under the covers. In addition to YUM, a
variety of other useful access methods may be enabled including ssh, rsync,
and some manner of interactive shell.
If jFrog has no legal or business reasons *not* to make their binary
distribution available via YUM, then I for one would appreciate it if you
guys could enable this access. It would make keeping up to date much easier
in my CentOS environments.
