We do exactly that. I've set up a remote Maven repository called
'gradle-distributions' which points to
http://services.gradle.org/distributions. Then we can refer to
https://artifactory/gradle-distributions/gradle-2.11-all.zip (or
gradle-2.11-bin.zip) in our gradle-wrapper.properties. Works great.
