Caroline,

A few comments. The ARTS interface to Tmatrix just supports single-size calculations. You define the particle size distribution in ARTS. If you will be doing microwave calculations, there are precalculated data in our scattering database.

If you describe what type of simulations you want to do, it is easier to give hints. It is hard to give general advice about scattering calculations.

Patrick

Hi,

I have recently managed to get ARTS v 2.4 installed and running, having used v2.4 for a little while.  Now that I am up to date, I have a few questions

 1. The SSPS in arts-xml-data-2.4.0/scattering/H20_ice, are these for
    mono-dispersed particles?  I assume so.

 2. I want to use SSPs for distributions of particles e.g based on a
gamma distribution.  I think that to do this, I need to call the
Tmatrix code via the scat_data_singleTmatrix workspace method.  I
know that NDISTR in the Tmatrix code controls the shape of the
particle size distribution, but where do I set this?  There is no
input for this in scat_data_singleTmatrix.  Are there any clear
examples of how to calculate SSPs like this?  Should I be using the
pyarts code?
Many thanks

Caroline
