Location : NJ or South East PA Duration : 7+ months (possible extension into 2010 contingent on funding and successful execution of tasks in 2009) 1. Position Description (TA/Dev (other – Mech. Eng.) - onsite) Contractor shall create image-based finite element models from XTC data to estimate bone strength, including the following: Use FE_MESH (Scanco Medical) to generate ANSYS compatible FEMs from *.AIM image files generated from clinical XCT (Scanco Medical) scans on a VMS workstation Impose appropriate boundary conditions on the ANSYS XCT image-based FEMs Perform linear compression test with an imposed predefined fixed force Post-processing of ANSYS FEA results to determine failure load according to a predefined linear criterion Use MATLAB to compute failure force scaling factor from effective strain distribution out of the ANSYS FEA results Elementary statistical analysis of the results 2.
