*Job Title: Database Administrator
Location: Dayton, OH
Duration: 5+ Months
Rate: $65 hr*


*Description:
*This position exists to provide analytical, technical, and administrative
support for specific off-the-shelf Relational Database Management Systems
(RDBMS) and pre/post processing software tools. Additionally, the incumbent
will provide assistance and input to project administrators and management
on the planning and documentation on database related issues pertinent to
supporting development projects.

Client company is all poised to implement products and enterprise systems
that embrace Web frameworks, collaborative computing infrastructures, and
industry best practices. The Database Administrator position is of major
importance within this business climate.


*Responsibilities:*
Installation, maintenance, security, performance and tuning of Relational
Database Management Systems and related third party software, with emphasis
on Oracle, SQL-Server, MySQL and/or Mark Logic..
Ensures proper backup and recovery procedures, including standards, for the
aforementioned database tools are in place for corporate databases.
Ensures close technical interchanges on database related issues with system
administrators, hardware engineers, project managers, and operations
personnel as necessary.
Provides technical leadership and mentoring pertaining to other Database
Administrators on complex database design and maintenance topics.
Recommends and aids in the definition of database strategies, policies,
standards, and procedures which are consistent with the Company mission;
promotes compliance with industry standards on database
design/implementation issues.
Provides consulting services to internal personnel, contractors, and vendors
for all database issues, such as: user interfaces, data access, database
logical/physical modeling/design, security management, vendor relationships,
training, and selection/acquisition of new database related tools.
Provides estimates on human resource expenditures and hardware (disk, cpu,
and memory) needed to support new projects or enhancements to existing
applications/products; participation on new product development/enhancement
teams.
Maintains industry awareness of database related products and provides
feedback to vendors and management on database productivity/performance
issues.


*Must Have:
*A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years experience with RDBMS such as Oracle, SQL-Server, MySQL,
and/or Mark Logic.
Knowledge and understanding of database concepts.
Oracle Clusterware (RAC).
Oracle ASM.
Oracle 10g.
Experience with underlying OS system, UNIX/LINUX/Windows, and related
utilities.
Experience with database performance & tuning, backup & recovery required.
Solid interpersonal, communication, follow up, and presentation skills both
verbal and written.
Ability to define, analyze and resolve problems; experience effectively
identifying, researching, troubleshooting/diagnosing and resolving database
administration issues.
