Job Title: Senior Linux System Administrator Location: Cambridge, MA Duration: 1 year Contract contract with extensions Responsibilities: Provide 24x7 production environment monitoring and support. Manage and maintain existing computer systems hardware to minimize downtime and maintain a high level of availability. Install, configure and integrate new computer systems hardware into the existing environment to meet customer requirements. Maintain and augment automated monitoring of mission-critical systems. Maintain and improve access controls to all production computer systems. Manage backup of mission-critical code and databases. Conduct and follow all change management processes to support SaaS systems. Lead and manage complex technical projects with cross functional teams members. Work with software engineers to diagnose performance-related issues. Document configuration changes, as well as processes and procedures, as required to satisfy external auditors and clients. Interact with external data center staff on computer systems and network-related installation, configuration and trouble-shooting. Act as backup to other members of the Production Service team. Requirements: BS in Computer Science or relevant major 7+ years experience with RedHat/Fedora/Centos Linux Knowledge of any/all of the following servers/applications: Apache, Tomcat, nagios, cacti, awstats, ntp, dns, snmp, and iptables. Solid experience supporting and maintaining EMC Storage Area Network’s. Extensive experience building, maintaining and supporting critical Virtualized environments running on VMWare vSphere. Ability to write/maintain shell and Perl scripts Strong attention to detail, communication skills (both verbal and written) Experienced with Quality Management methods and philosophies Experience with any of the following a plus: VMWare; Cisco router and firewall configuration and maintenance; OpenVPN; qmail; Cisco Call Manager.
