*Title: *Software QA System Specialist *Location: *Fort Collins, CO *Duration: *12 months *Required Skills and Competencies*: Public Trust Clearance or Able to Obtain • Windows 2008/2012 Server Administration • Linux Server Administration • Working knowledge of IIS 6-7.5 configuration • Deployment of .NET and Linux multi-tier web-based enterprise applications • Microsoft Windows Systems Administration: Active Directory, policies, SMS, monitoring, etc. • Ability to deploy COTS and custom-developed software on either Windows or Linux servers • Ability to qualify the deployment of COTS and custom-developed software on either Windows or Linux servers • Creation of test plans and test cases from formal requirements and design documentation. • Experience with automated testing tools • Creation of automated test scripts based formal test plans and test cases • Experience with manual and automated test execution • Experience with creation of test reports • Experience with a commercial bug management system • Experience with Multi-tier computing environments including load balanced application (middleware) servers supported by back end database servers • Understanding of the formal software development lifecycle process • Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and work through to completion • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Visio • Ability to work within a cross-functional team collaborative IT environment • Proactive approach to problem solving *Desired Skills*: • Edition and/or HP Quality Center. • Scripting experience (i.e. Cygwin, Dos, Bash, Perl, Python, and/or VBscript) • Knowledge of Virtualization software, such as VMware Server/Desktop, and Windows Virtual PC. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008/2010/2012 (or similar tool) • Development and support of web-based and desktop applications using .NET/C#/ASP.NET/SQL Server 2008/2012 • Experience with source control management software, such as Subversion (SVN) • Testing experience of GIS technologies including ESRI ArcSDE, ArcIMS, ArcGIS • Basic understanding of HTTP traffic, ports, web-services, clustered and distributed systems, fileshares and batch processes. This member of the Software Quality Assurance (QA) Team must be knowledgeable and able to perform in the following areas: • Understanding of the formal software development process including QA fundamentals such as test planning, test execution, and test reporting. • Software development principals – familiarity with development toolkits, web development, current development languages, databases, and scripting. • Windows server administration - setup/maintenance of multi-tier computing environments including but not limited to web server configuration • COTS installation/setup • Administration of users/groups/privileges within Windows and Linux environments • Development and maintenance of network architecture diagrams • Daily up-time/maintenance of all QA test environments • Off-hour on-call support The Software QA System Specialist must be able to perform testing of web and desktop software applications, understand formal software engineering practices and quality assurance standards, able to interpret product requirements, able to develop test procedures, and understand functional, performance, load, installation, and usability testing concepts. In addition, the position must be able to perform system administration activities within the QA test environment. *Education and Experience*: • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, I.T., or similar degree • 4+ years of structured software quality assurance engineering experience is required.
