Advanced knowledge of enterprise backup systems and concepts is required. The appropriate candidate will become part of a Pittsburgh based experienced team dedicated to the support of backup systems and technologies located in our Pittsburgh Data Center and remote sites. Off hours and weekend support are required along with less than 20% travel to support customer engagements. Participation in a rotating 24 hour / 7 day on-call rotation when necessary. Demonstration of Excellent English Written and Oral skills for customer support, interaction and presentations. Position Title: Backup Storage Administrator Position Summary This position is for a Backup Storage administrator. Advanced knowledge of enterprise backup systems and concepts is required. Position Characteristics Provides routine technical support with full responsibility and accountability. Operates autonomously detecting and anticipating problems. Must work closely with vendor resources on remote/local projects as required. *5+ years experience with backup, deploying, configure, and maintaining backup solutions in a TSM/AVAMAR backup environment.* Research and make recommendations on backup products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts. Ability to work in large global IT support organization Must have excellent written, verbal, presentation and project management skills Must have experience working in accordance with a tightly controlled change management environment. Contributions Team player and ability to build relationships with supporting teams. Desire to learn new technologies and ability to quickly apply. Ability to make sound decisions independently that support team strategy. Demonstrates pro-active approach toward technical and process improvements. Keen attention to detail. Assumes leadership in team projects and activities. Technology Qualifications Practical Backup and Restore Knowledge & Experience. *3 - 5 years of experience working with IBM TSM / EMC AVAMAR backup solutions.* Unix administrator level skills for AIX, HP-UX, Red Hat Linux. Windows skills. Ad-hoc scripting skills for storage administration ( korn, bash, or perl ). TSM certifications preferred. Solid working knowledge and hands on experience with Networking and Storage technologies (i.e … SAN, Block and CIFS) Education Bachelors Degree in field and 3+ years of experience or industry equivalence gained via prior work assignments.
