So Barclays is building out their Big Data environment

They just hired a Big Data arch that is working on the Enterprise Arch team
and the need 5 ETL Team leads to be the Subject Mater expert in Hadoop for
each Development team.





It’s really basic.  The role is an ETL tech lead for our Hadoop
implementations.  We use the Cloudera toolset.  I expect technical leaders
to have design/architecture skills as well as development skills, with
experience in batch as well as Java to go with the standard Hadoop
ecosystem tools (sqoop, spark, etc).  Strong communication skills a must.
I expect they have previous experience with Oracle and may have noSQL
database as well. Given that we’re a bank and our data is high sensitive,
we need our developers to have a very good understanding of how security
works in Hadoop with the most glaring being authorization and
authentication ( security ).

Individuals with lower skill levels may be considered for development
roles, but only after the tech leadership positions have been filled.

So what they look for is a Sr or lead Developer.  Person wouldn’t have a

Notes: The process is I give a Java/ J2ee test from prove it and then I
give it to my account manager.  He will call the candidate to check on
communication skills as that is huge for this position.  The interview is a
webex (basically a skype) and then they will hire someone.  Paychex knows
there isn’t much talent in Rochester, NY but want people willing to move
there.  The interviews are pretty technical and they do key on
communication skills.  Interviews are webex with web cam.  One interview
and they make a decision.





Required:  Server Side Software development

• 3-5 years of Java programming / J2EE experience

• Must have very strong database and SQL skills – they will be working with
complex databases (normalized models, 100’s of tables).  Must be able to
read complex data models or ERD diagrams.  Must have object relational
modeling experience.

• Must have experience with a source code control tool and know how to
merge conflicting changes.

Preferred:

• Experience with ANT and ability to troubleshoot issues.

(structured query language) skills.   It is an agile development
