*Position: Big Data Architect (Hadoop)*

*Location: Chicago, IL*

*Duration: 6 months with possibilities for 2-3 years*

*Responsibilities:*

·         Maintain in-depth and current knowledge of client’s strategies,
business issues and relationships from senior management on down.

·         Serve as a solutions-based expert, internally and externally, by
applying consultative problem solving skills.

·         Identify issues of importance to the healthcare industry/clients
(Payer and Provider preferred) and works with the Managing Director to
develop tangible and commercial offerings.

·         Remain current on competitive trends in the healthcare industry
(Payer and Provider preferred) to anticipate and identify new business
challenges and issues at assigned clients.



*Specific Data Architectural Responsibilities:*

·         Work with both technical and business stakeholders to understand
the data needs for projects.

·         Attend requirement sessions when necessary, communicating any
concerns to project leadership.

·         Perform requirement analysis, data profiling, time estimation for
database and data warehouse design and development

·         Provide thought leadership around data warehouse design by
leveraging past experience and current data warehouse and healthcare
industry trends (preferably both Payer and Provider)

·         Provide guidance on the creation and best practices around Data
Governance, Data Stewardship and overall Data Quality initiatives and
processes as part of the overall data effort

·         Translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in
terms understandable to technical and nontechnical management and resources
staff.

·         Develop and maintains conceptual, logical, and physical database
and data warehouse architectures. Ensures project adheres to client’s data
and database standards and policies.

·         Responsible for database and data warehouse design (physical &
logical) and data model for enterprise initiatives, large projects, and
high impact / high cost projects.

·         Provide extensive technical, strategic advice and guidance to
senior managers and technical resources in the creation and implementation
of new data standards and databases or changes to existing ones.

·         Collaborate with the Enterprise Architect and client IT team to
establish and implement strategic initiatives.

·         Make recommendations and assesses proposals for database
optimization.

·         Identify operational issues recommend and implement strategies to
resolve problems.


* Required Skills:*

·         10+ years of experience as a Big Data Architect

·         Healthcare industry experience working with named, large Payers,
Providers or, preferably, both either in industry or as a consultant

·         Ability to design data warehousing solutions that can take large
volumes of structured and unstructured data and rapidly generate meaningful
reports and/or support ongoing analytical needs

·         Must have experience with Big Data, Data Warehouse, Data
Analytics and Healthcare Informatics

·         *Must have expertise with Hadoop*

·         Experience with the following tools and languages is required:

o   Apache Software Foundation – Big Data Tools & Languages

o   MapReduce

o   Datameer

o   Pig, Hive, Hbase, Flume, Kafka, Sqoop, Storm, Spark, Python

o   DataStage for Big Data

o   Talend

o   NoSQL

·         Thorough knowledge of database design and tuning with standard
tools.

·         Thorough knowledge of current healthcare industry models and
tools available in the marketplace, e.g. Oracle Healthcare Data Model,
Teradata Healthcare Model, and IBM Health Plan Data Model (HPDM)

·         Experience implementing operational and dimensional logical and
physical design for Data Marts, Data Warehouse and Business intelligence
solutions

·         Experience architecting and designing solutions that leverage
Master Data Management (MDM), Reference Data Management, Integration
solutions, Operational Data Stores (ODS), and Analytic Data Stores (ADS)

·         Experience with or understanding of current healthcare industry
(Payer and Provider) data analytics needs and trends as well as supporting
them

·         Experience with big data and distributed data processing tools
and platforms, including Hadoop.

·         Experience in identifying and documenting data integration
issues, challenges such as duplicate data, non-conformed data, and unclean
data including both internal and external data sources

·         Experience creating data integrations that exchanges data (both
in and out) with external data sources and the security implications it
creates

·         Experience in participating in analysis sessions with the user
community to capture data requirements clearly, completely and correctly.

·         Experience in identifying, analyzing and translating business
requirements into conceptual, logical and physical data models in complex,
multi-application environments.

·         Excellent data analysis skills using SQL via SQL*Plus, SQL
Navigator, TOAD or similar tool.

·         Experience working with data modeling tools such as Erwin
(preferred), Power Designer or ER Studio.

·         Experience in creating, reviewing and presenting Source Systems
Analysis and Source To Target mapping across Staging, Integration and
Presentation layers

·         Experience in Data analysis/profiling and reverse engineering of
data.

·         Ability to create, refine and deploy an appropriate aggregate
strategy

·         Ability to define, develop, and implement joint data testing
strategies with the business and IT QA.

·         Demonstrated Project and Program Management experience.

·         Experience with RFP writing and Solution Development.

·         Highly skilled in multiple Business and IT service offerings with
the ability to provide verified insight into industry and business issues.

·         Demonstrated ability to act as a counselor and strategic advisor
to the client in multiple areas.

·         Highly effective and proven C - level relationship management
skills

·         Strong background in Agile/Scrum.
