Scrum Master BOISE, Idaho Role Description: Act as Scrum master with a focus on guiding the team towards improving the way they work. Facilitating and/or supporting all Scrum Events; Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective. Supports the Product Owner and Development Team in their quest to do everything possible to fulfill customers needs and exceed expectations. Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style and leading by example. Guiding and Coaching the Scrum Team and organization on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products to our customers. Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization. Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right people to remove them. Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving. Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work. Facilitating discussions, decision making, and conflict resolution. Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information. Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to refining (aka grooming) and managing the product backlog. Supporting and educating the Development Team, especially with respect to self-organization, agile engineering, agile testing and incremental and iterative software development. Take an Agile leadership role in the organizations Continuous Improvement program; helping teams develop effective improvement objectives and plans to achieve them. Ensure outside team resources such as DBAs, Architects, and system administrators are coordinated for future sprints when applicable. Specific Skills Required (Programming languages, databases, operating systems, etc.) Specific Skills for a ScrumMaster: First level Scrum Master certification (PSM I, CSM ) Experience in the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, Retrospective formats, scaling agile across multiple teams, handling defects, etc.) The ability to distinguish between what "is Scrum" what is "not Scrum" Excellent communication and mentoring skills Understand the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development. Understand the fundamentals of software development processes and procedures. Demonstrate knowledge and experience with IT processes and concepts. Knowledge of other approaches discussed in the Agile space: XP, Kanban, SAFe, etc. Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, etc. Technical Skills: Understand basic fundamentals of iterative development. Understand other processes and methodologies and can speak intelligently about them and leverage other techniques to provide value to a team/enterprise. Understand basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures. Understand the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team. Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics. Understand backlog tracking, burn-down metrics, velocity, and task definition. Mastery of common Agile/Scrum practices. Familiarity with software as a service, service-oriented environments, and improving development practices.
