Tim Pritlove
Professional Amateur and Raconteur
Tim Pritlove has been one of the early citizens of the Internet's Global
Village and has
engaged in technology and telecommunications since 1984 and worked as a
programmer,
system administrator and technology consultant.
He joined the Chaos Computer Club (CCC) and became a hacker community
activist,
media artist and radio host. For a decade he has been the organizing of
the annual Chaos
Communication Congress, one of the world's most important hacker events
and founded
the Chaos Communication Camp, an international outdoor extravaganza for
open-minded
people that served as an initiating force for the worldwide Hackerspaces
movement.
He joined University of Arts Berlin (UdK) in 2000 as artistic-scientific
assistant and founded
and coordinated Project Blinkenlights, an international media art
collective of hackers that
pioneered interactive media facade installations in Berlin, Paris and
Toronto and created
one of the most recognized art pieces of that time ("Blinkenlights").
Since 2005 he has been spearheading the German Podcasting scene by
creating his own
independent media network named Metaebene Personal Media and engaging in new
forms of interview and talk radio formats on the Internet. He
participates in workshops on
new media activism and coordinates a podcast developer community.
Tim lives in Berlin, Germany.
