Fundraiser For Bernard C. Burden

August 6th @ 4:00 to 8:00 PM EST
The Arts Exchange
750 Kalb St Se
Atlanta, GA 30312

Bernard Burden is a young brother that was found hanging from a noose tied to a tree in the yard of a white family in Coweta County, Georgia on the morning of October 13, 2004. The coroners office declared the hanging a suicide, and the police dept. closed the case without investigating. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Bernard Burden’s mother, Tamathy Pless and speaking with her extensively about the case. In short, her son’s death has many unanswered questions, contradicting facts, and blatant injustices outstanding. She is certain, based on events following her son’s death, that it was not a suicide. To uncover what actually happened, she is in need of a lawyer, private investigator, the body exhumed, and a private autopsy performed. Of course, all of these needs require money, of which she doesn’t have.

Several organizations have heard the story, and some are committed to coming to the aid of our sister. The location of the fundraiser has been donated by the Arts Exchange, in the Grant Park area, and multiple individuals are working to coordinate the event. What we are in need of are people to support the event by spreading the word, purchasing a ticket, and actually attending. We will be reaching out to radio stations that we have contact with to promote the event, but need additional contacts. We will also spread the word through email, flyers, and word of mouth.

Support Ms. Tamathy Pless and Do Not Allow This Lynching To Pass
