There is more to a town than property values.   Many people regret what's
happened to the downtown area.  Sure, everybody's property value has
skyrocketed but I'm also seeing lots and lots of empty stores where the
downtown once was a very nice part of town.
 
Plus I think we've lost a little bit of the idea of community because many
of the increases are due to these monstrous houses built where 2 or 3 houses
once stood.  Many of these new owners do not live year round and treat the
town as a weekend getaway.  While you can't force people to live year round,
it's a shame when a town that had a nice year round flavor (and skyrocketed
during the summer) shows sign of becoming a ghost town after Labor Day.
