Tom, Tom, Tom. Be careful what you wish for. Even as a Republican, you very well know that there can't be NO government oversight. Modern communist states have shown us that TOO MUCH central planning of the economy doesn't work (I thought all the Young Republicans gave Ronnie all the credit for destroying the Soviets?). However, would you want to return to the days of the US with no, or minimal government oversight? While I beleive in market forces, I am not a devotee of total laizze faire. Business needs to be checked in some manner. If we buy into your premise, someone could operate a tannery, slaughterhouse or other incompatible or noxious use next to your home. With regard to the TRC, if you want less oversight why not do what larger municipalities do such as NYC? You have a zoning resolution and either you do or don't comply. That simple.
