somebody wrote..."

Clearly I feel this couple should sue the pants off of
the bar and Karina, it is ashame they had there night ruined and
there dignity and pride bruised, I hope they get TONS!!!"

I am sorry, while what the waitress wrote to identify the patrons was
offensive and beyond stupid,
I can't see something like this ruining a night, let alone affecting
ones dignity or pride.
Despite the stark raving mad position of our own legal eagle,
BlueBishop, who flatly stated that racism
doesn't exist in AP, the sad fact is that incidents like what happened
at Parkhills are commonplace.
Hell, I have been with a group of Jewish people who blatantly rip apart
the Syrian Jewish people
WHO VACATION EVERY SUMMER IN DEAL AND OT and NOW WEST LONG BRANCH!

I have been with a group of Black people who, talking about other Black
people that they didn't like, openly and offensively used
a favored slang word for the black man. You all know that word, it is
now part of the everyday vernacular, most especially among young
Black men.

My favorite round table discussions though, are when I am with my
Italian friends, of which I have many, most of whose parents
were born and raised in Asbury Park and moved out after the riots. My
Italian friends have very strong opinions on Asbury Blacks.

But there is no racism in Asbury and there is no vacationing in Monmouth
County.

But then..., Mr. Bluebishop, who sounds alarmingly like the pseudo
publisher of the Tri City Rag, hits a "homer" when he discusses the
waterfront redevelopment.
I hate to admit that I am in 100% agreement with Skip on the Fishman and
Asbury Partners, however, how anyone can deny that they have gotten the
waterfront RE-development
off the ground is mistaken. Two projects are moving along, one has sold
out, and though a long way from perfect, the boardwalk area looks better
than it has in 20+ years or more.
Now, the true harbinger of whether or not the waterfront plan in AP does
anyone any good is the C8 project. Until that project takes off, while
things are looking good along Kingsley and Wesley,
C8 is the virus that continues to haunt any progress in Asbury Park.

With all that said, even if C8 was finished and occupied, until Asbury
Partners RESTORES the historic structures on the waterfront nothing
really matters.
And that's where the Black Hole that is Asbury Park is truly located.
Because in the privacy of their dreams and visions for Asbury Park,
Asbury Partners would take ALL the historic structures
including the Stone Pony, Pryor Pavilion and Casino and knock those
structures down and replace them with condos and make boatloads of money
doing so.
Understand that once all those historic structures are restored; once
the mile of Oceanfront in AP is back to being habitable by nice people,
then the real work begins. The work of maintaining those historic
structures, the work of booking the right entertainment that will draw
cash paying customers that can support that maintenance. And once again,
Skip is correct, if Captain Kangaroo, Howdy Doodie
and The 3 Stooges were knocking on their door, Asbury Partners still
wouldn't be able to book a children's show in a restored Paramount or a
restored convention hall. Asbury Partners has no abilities
to run an entertainment complex. They also no nothing about historic
restoration. Hell, they wanted to replace Convention Halls windows with
windows from Home Depot. Those Andersen sliders sure would look good on
Convention Hall, those Copper windows, drech!!!!!
