There is a window of opportunity right now, while progress stagnates, to make some changes. Unfortunately the Council is still a majority of 3 who believed they did the right thing. Perhaps a taxpayers lawsuit would get their attention. Regarding vacant lots vs buildings, a grave error has already been made. That is, the condo approval and constuction (or lack thereof) along Wesley Lake. That was zoned for commercial uses that would have provided a year round economy and would have connected the downtown with the beachfront. Corporate conference and exhibition space were planned there. I had always proposed that SONY be partnered with to build an IMAX theater in that zone. It's remembered even today as the site of the former Mayfair and St. James theaters. Continuity of historic land use, tourist attraction, high tech forward looking, etc. With all the music and entertainment connections associated with Asbury Park, SONY would have been an excellent partner. Your point is very appropriate, now with condos there (they could have been somewhere else) that opportunity is lost. Werner ------------------------ Yahoo!
