I received this message below from a concerned member of a home owners group. What do you think about being required to be a state collections agent for withholding tax of contractors and subcontractors who work on your peoperty??
"It is important that you send an email to Governor Corzine asking him to veto S-648 (Sweeney). Legislation (S-648) waiting for Governor Corzine's signature makes property owners liable for withholding tax for all contractors and subcontractors on a construction project, even where there is no privity between the owner and the subcontractor, or even any knowledge that a subcontractor is working on the construction project.
