Hi
All,
As far as there being a "Tax Decrease" after receiving the
extra $250K, you really must be joking, right? Divide that up and what
would you see, $5 each?
Besides, as it is, for years the City was misappropriating Community
Development Block Grant monies, and putting them into the Cities
"General" Fund, which they never were supposed to be, anyway (As per
the Federal Government & State ......Senator Lautenberg's Office, for one).
Due to that happening, and since that money WAS intended to help "The
Community", and did not, the State is taking motions to cut OFF CDBG Money
from Cities such as Asbury Park, and to give the money straight to Non-Profits,
where it was intended to go in the First place.
As far as the Police getting the extra $250K, once it's in the City's General
Fund, that's about 99% unlikely to happen! Most money that the Police get
like that, they get directly through the Government, and they use it much more
wisely than Mr. Reidy uses what he manages.
The most extra money which the Police ever got was under President Clinton,
with his COPS Program, which helped tremendously, yet Bush immediately
terminated that program after he got in! I believe that Asbury paid for
approximately 7-9 additional officers with that money, but don't quote me
exactly on that.
Mr. Reidy has already overblown the size of the City Government, and given
gigantic employee raises, instead of "Tightening the Cities Belt" on
expenses! But the SAME People against the
Have fun,
Steve
