john stossels piece aired last night on channel 7 - stupid in america. How
shitty some of our
schools are.
Compared to Belgium, where families get the "money" to send their kids to a
school of their
choice. The kicker - the schools HAVE to PERFORM and provide services the
parents (and kids
) want.
If they fail, they close.
So the education system is run as a business. The schools have to compete for
the $. If they
don't, they fail.
Not like here, where the schools employ attorneys to sue the state for funding
because they
can't figure out where in one system, close ONE BILLION dollars in state money
has gone,
with litle results. AND no one has to account for it. Just get more.
