Hi everybody -
I want to thank the 100 or so people who came out to the Paramount
Theater last night to see the reading of my screenplay, "Ocean Mile -
The Deal". The response was very gratifying -- and even shocking!!
I want to congratulate the whole cast, some of whom doubled on parts
and as crew: Henry Vaccaro, Werner Baumgartner, Harold Suggs, Rae
Tutela, Ray Good, Tim Bartolini, Barbara Sandberg,Joe Basile, Frank
D'Alessandro, and Gerry Gironda!! Gerry Gironda - you are the man!!!
Gerry once again came to our aid in supplying the equipment and
handling all of our sound - as well as the lights, which Ray Good was
nice enough to schlep. Special thanks to my volunteer producer, Jason
Skislak, for another great job!!
For those who couldn't make it, rest assured, Bob Mataranglo, a
talented artist whose latest mural of Long Branch in 1939 was spread
across yesterday's Press, made a DVD recording of the whole event. So
we'll be able to have another showing of the screenplay!!
Maybe the historical society can host a showing as a fundraiser. I
only counted two members of that group in attendance, so maybe they'd
like to see it themselves.
I want to thank the Asbury Park Black Box for inviting us to
participate in their Women's Arts Festival this way.
And, finally, I'd like to thank Asbury Partners, specifically Larry
Fishman and Uri for allowing us to go ahead and use their theater -
The Paramount - even after they'd read the script. I was shocked that
they'd been provided with a copy, and even more shocked that the
script ended up in the hands of the deputy mayor and city manager.
And even more shocked, when the deputy mayor told me he'd advised
Larry not to let the show go on in his building. So hats off to Larry!
PS - Would the show have gone on anyway? What do you think?
