Honestly, one thing that I do believe about Jewell Marketing is that
they rely too much on the old, traditional forms of advertising. We
spent a lot of time trying to get them to update their press release
lists for online sites and mags like Upstage and The Rag that are in
the area. Likewise, I think a lot of their ad budget goes to the
same places it did probably did a decade ago. You're talking about
creating a marketing website - they could be advertising on a ton of
websites as well (for cheaper than the advertising they're doing now)
It's all about recognizing the trends and I'm not sure the City is
doing that right now. I think Jewell does a good job but really
needs someone with tons of new marketing ideas for online and
alternative papers.
