Try not to interpret any one post or subject thread as someone's overall
world-view.

It is a human tendency to comment more often when "Man bites dog" instead of
"Dog bites man,"
but I do take heart that, in the long run, our checks and balances do work,
especially when the Fourth Estate is thrown in the mix.

My personal preference, rather than any super heroes or new-age meditation,
are the age-old classics whose time-tested wisdom always manages to survive
and resurface in tough times.

And I like writers who pose questions rather than pose. Like Nancy Gibbs:

"Have these last months left us humbled or hardened, bitter at all we think
we have lost,
or grateful for what we once took for granted?"

I'll jump on "grateful" as an antidepressant. ;-)

wow you guys are depressing. i think you need to lay off the bad news
for a while, or jump on some anti depressants.

whenever I get depressed, I think up superheroes. or do some mantra
meditation. simply repeat something like "healing, love and light" or
"thank you" over and over. Love, Jesus, healing, gratitude. Ya know,
anything positive.

I am well aware of the ugliness that lurks in our government. It has
nothing to do with American government, it has to do with human
beings.
