This automated parking system is an accident waiting to happen. That's all I
kept thinking about while I watched the video presentation. How would the cars
be retrieved if there's a computer malfunction or a mechanical breakdown? There
doesn't seem to be an sort of redundancy built into the system.
It seems to me that the hardest part about creating this type of parking system
is in creating the underground space. And while underground parking would be an
asset to AP,an automated system is neither prudent or necessary. An automated
system would be so much more expensive then just hiring a few valets (for lack
of a better word) to jockey the cars around.
There's no need for such a technological marvel on the Jersey shore.
