First let me say hello to all of you and it has been some time since I posted
here. I keep following much of the opinions and developments and I appreciate
the forum as it has been a good source for me to see what is going on.
I am writing this after being evicted from 162 Broadway, Long Branch over 2 +
years ago. The displacement of Lighthouse & I have put us into travel mode...
I have been all over the United States and I am writing you all today from
Europe.
The Market Street Mission, and those opposed would do better if you all came
together and shared your concerns and hopefully develop some common solutions
to better serve both those whom are needy and those who are worried about the
needy being in Asbury.
I only say this because no matter where you are from Long Branch, Asbury Park,
Alamagordi, New Mexico, St Louis, MO, Cascades of Oregon, Chicargo or even
Amsterdam... Social Problems exist and in many cases over burden the hard
working segment of society.
Litigation does little to resolve all the issues from both sides of the fence.
It also becomes costly for the tax payers as legal fees are enormous in most
cases such as these.
Interesting personal note: After serving soup, handing out needed warm
clothing or helping raise money for unpaid utilities - I have seen many faces
in great need. I have seen corrupted people who just want to abuse charity, to
those who would not make it through a winter without compassion from others.
I don't have all the answers to the questions we are all faced with as members
of society. I also have a warm place in my heart for the Jersey Shore. I may
be reopening 162 Broadway, if the city and us can not resolve, as the High
Court of The State of New Jersey ruled last April, tossing the 1996 Plan out
for not meeting the proper criteria for blight.
So for now, I just wanted to say hello and send my regards to everyone no
matter what side of the issue you are on.
I regret only one statement of Jesus Christ recorded in the Bible; "The poor
you will always have with you, ..."
God's Best to you all.
