The public information officer, Garrett Giberson, Jr. says that the
decision was made to impose a CURFEW from 8pm on Saturday to 9am on Monday.
This means that no businesses are allowed to be open and no one should be on
the roads in their cars or on foot during this time period. He mentioned
that portions of the City will also be subject to MANDATORY EVACUATION, but
that the specifics on the boundaries and timeframes would be outlined in a
forthcoming CODE RED message.
Definition of a MANDATORY EVACUATION; Garrett confirmed that it does mean
that once one is declared, if you chose to stay, they cannot guarantee
emergency assistance.
Garrett also mentioned that the beach will close at 5pm today and will be
closed tomorrow and Sunday. There will be road closings associated with
the mandatory evacuation and curfew.
The Governor just announced that Asbury Park is to be evacuated by Noon
Saturday. I believe.
