JANUARY 19TH
A fast moving clipper system will be passing to the north of the area
tonight. A coating of snow is possible in the Neptune area as well as most of
central and northern NJ. Spotty accumulations of up to one inch are
possible in interior northern NJ.

Any snow that does fall will happen between midnight and 3am.

A more interesting situation is coming into focus in the late Friday
night/Saturday morning timeframe. A weak storm system will be passing by to
our south and with just enough high pressure to our north, an accumulating
snowfall is likely...particularly over northern sections.

Along the coast of central NJ, there should be just enough easterly flow
to change the snow to rain, but an inch or so of snow could fall before the
changeover.

Inland sections of central and northern NJ should see a longer period of
snow. Right now accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are possible for inland
sections between I-195 and I-80 including the NYC area with 2 to 4 inches
possible north of I-80. All of these areas will likely see a change to sleet
before ending.

In southern NJ, up to an inch is possible before the changeover with
little accumulation likely along the southern NJ coast.

Start time for the snow is between midnight and 3am early Saturday morning
and ending by late morning on Saturday.

Not a big storm by any stretch, but it is the first real threat of wintry
precipitation this winter
