Hi Nehul Pleased to hear that ASCEND has piqued your interest. We would be very interested to have a contributor interested in completing the implementation of canvas-based GUI modelling for ASCEND. Your experience with Python GUIs would be a plus with this (what GUI toolkit did you use?), as well as your C code and mathematical background.
You also mentioned renewable energy system modelling. I think that it will be more appropriate if we can find someone qualified in thermodynamics, heat transfer, etc, for that field. You will have a better chance by applying for the GUI project, in my view. Perhaps you would like to take a little time now to try to build ASCEND and get it running on your system, so that you can see what the current capability of our little canvas GUI currently is. There is still quite a lot to do, in particular the whole connection of the canvas GUI to the solver engine, as well as the ability to set parameters on different model blocks. Try getting the current GUI running, then let me know your thoughts on what you think the next steps will be. You can reply off-list if you wish. No IRC channel for ASCEND, sorry.
