Unfortunately I can't help you with emacs, either, I don't use it. 
Perhaps Ben Allan might have some suggestions. Personally, I use 
'gedit', for which syntax files are provided in the tools/gtksourceview 
folder. There are also syntax files for the TextPad editor under Windows.
