Hi Kesha
CONOPT is a commercial optimisation solver for ASCEND, you can ignore
errors about it not being available (we need to convert these errors
into warnings, or perhaps remove them entirely).
IPOPT is an optional optimisation solver for ASCEND. It's FOSS, and you
should be able to build it and link against it, but ASCEND will also
work fine without it, providing you don't want to solve optimisation
problems of course.
CMSlv is our conditional modelling solver. It currently depends upon
CONOPT, so if you don't have CONOPT you can't run CMSlv. We would like
to convert CMSlv to also being able to use IPOPT, but haven't found
time/a person to do that yet.
Regarding your earlier questions, our GSOC participation (or not) will
be announced on Apr 8, so we're waiting to find out, but indeed we did
apply to participate. We don't have an IRC channel, but we're
considering setting one up this year for GSOC. Some suggestions for
getting started as a student participant in our project are given here:
