I have been using Asciidoc to generate a few simple webpages. Lately, there is a problem with these pages: the accented characters, foreign-language characters, etc. do not display properly.
The information technology office at my university tells me that this is because the pages generated by Asciidoc do not include the following text: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> Is this explanation plausible? -- K.
