Hi!

For use with uWiki[1], we folks of Lumiera[2] (mainly cehteh and me) are
trying to fix the LaTeX backend right now, i.e. latex.conf, not the dblatex via
a2x. As a first goal, we tried to fix the broken [listingblock]. Some
interesting findings on how AsciiDoc handles newlines/blank lines along the
way. Some of these might be bugs, so I will elaborate on this in a separate
message.

It looks like we succeeded with this first step! We have a solution for
[listingblock] that actually works(TM). The question now: how to send the
changes back upstream? I created a local brach 'latex' off r808, where I fixed
the listingblock and some small errors with escaping and adding some stub
[XYZ] (what's their technical name? Blocks? Environments?) definitions to make

Configuration file 'sections' contain either markup 'templates' or key/value 'entries'.

the conversion AsciiDoc -> .tex run to the end again (but still with some loss
of markup/content on the way like before). I could either push that branch
upstream (for others to follow that might be interested in joining our efforts,
hint hint) or send small patches here. What's your say on how we should
proceed?

Nice hear LaTeX is getting some TLC.

The best way is to post your patches to this discussion list (hg diff to an AsciiDoc revision) along with a summary of changes.

So far as LaTeX goes I don't have the expertise to test it so it's going to be up to yourself and other interested users -- so please document what you've done and why, examples are always good. If there aren't any objections I will commit the updates.

Try to confine the changes to the LaTeX conf files, if you need hard-coded changes in the asciidoc executable to accommodate LaTeX please point out the limitations on the discussion list, there may be an existing solution.

Cheers, Stuart

Ah yes, some rumblings on how to fix tables (the next big task on the agenda)
and more is in the Lumiera issue tracker[3]. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated!

That's all for now.
