Since you are using fop, I believe you can also add an a2x option
either on the command line or in the document file.
// a2x --xsltproc-opts="--param alignment justify"
That's good tip, though I found I had to use --stringparam instead of --param.
Using --param caused FOP (0.95) to generate a Java Null Pointer Exception.
