Hi Stuart, As I said on my comment on that thread, neither am I an autotools expert, as demonstrated by my incorrect expectation that autotools would behave reasonably and look for the install-sh it distributed :( I did a search on my development machine and there are 55 install-sh copies on it, each project seems to have a copy, so pending advice from someone with an autotools degree I guess we have to include it. And whenever autoconf is upgraded I guess you are expected to notice and have to check and include a new version, oh wait the users machine has an old autoconf, sure hope its backward compatible </just one more rant>. As you can probably tell, I don't like autotools, but I agree that it is useful for users to have access to the familiar ./configure && make && sudo make install incantation.
