We hit the same problem in Awestruct (similar to Jekyll). This happens when you work with dates without times. You become reliant on the timezone of the server to decide which day you are in GMT, which may not be the same day where you are. Yes, it usually happens around the midnight hour.
The best solution (speaking generally), is to pass the time and timezone offset to the API (if that's possible) when you do the post.
