The presentations/git-gerrit-workshop.html slide 6 and 7 show the problem. 

When I check the graphviz generated images I do find the ++++ pattern is 
there and no problems, and this is using the image-blockmacro which doesn't 
use the sys3.

I have also open a pull request on github for this, as it work fine for me 
now.
