Sorry I missed this question. A2x has nothing to do with the highlighting and the languages supported, that depends on the highlighters you choose for the backends. If you are generating HTML with asciidoc it uses whichever one of the three http://asciidoc.org/source-highlight-filter.html you choose, and if you are generating the html with a2x then its whatever the docbook xslt uses. You need to get dblatex (though to be fair I would guess its actually tex) and the HTML highlighter to agree what to call the language.
