Apparently, the string isn't in Unicode in asciidoc. The file is UTF-8, but 
asciidoc is not reading the file as UTF-8 or something.

That's . . . disappointing. But my workaround will do the job for now; 
perhaps I'll look at submitting a patch later.

But I'm still stuck on why email addresses aren't getting into the tables.
