Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, this only covers one basic scenario with tables. What happens if the table is too long for a single page, and then only the last row goes over to the next page? I would rather have then at least 2 or 3 rows flowing over. Or I may have some text and piece of preformatted code in a different style. I would like to keep those together. Or together with the previous table. The basic problem is that LibreOffice only offers very limited page break control. As far as I know, this applies to Microsoft Word too. There is just a "keep with next paragraph" option that is not enough.
