Hi,

I have a perl script that checks to see if searchd is running and if it is not, it
will restart it. It is started from /etc/rc.d/rc.local at boot time.

If anyone wants that script, please drop me a note and I will post it to the list.

Later
Adonis

See misc/aspseek file to see how this can be done on RedHat-based
systems. Or, use

su - <user> -c "searchd -D"

where <user> is user you want searchd to run under.
See su(1) manpage for details.

Bend the facts to fit the conclusion. It's easier that way.
