It seems that MaxDocsPerServer does not work as
MaxDocsPerServerPerIndexSession
either. I have more documents than the limit I specifyed indexed in one
session.
To use MaxHops as you suggest is not handy. The number of documents indexed
with a given MaxHops differs in orders of magnitude, depending of the site
structure.

I know that Matt Sullivan have a patch that implements MaxDocsPerServer
in the way you want it.
Actually you'd better use index -o together with MaxHops.
