Hi Bill,

Maybe you can help. Looking for more information, such as BMD and parents of
Noel Soucy and his lovely bride Mary Belanger.

Noel and Mary were united in matrimony on July 21, 1892 in Lewiston, Maine.

Thanks.

Fun facts:

At the end of the XIXth and beginning of the XXth, a large amount of French
Canadians moved to New England, including to Lewiston Maine, where there
were textile and leather mills looking for unskilled labor. The economic
crisis of the 1920's accelerated the migration, and by the end of the 1930's
it's almost half of the Province of Quebec that had moved to the USA.
Imagine Canada today, and the importance of the French speaking population
if that half had stayed.

Anyway, in Lewiston, the Catholic Church had started a French summer camp on
the shores of Lake Androscogging, "Camp Tekakwitha", under the leadership of
father Clark. But once the French population had assimilated and their
children stopped speaking French, there was a recruiting problem for the
camp. Instead of switching to English, they decided to market the camp in
Quebec. My brother and I both went to that summer camp. It still exists, as
far as I know. It was bought from the Church by a group of alums. Memories,
memories.
