It is the primary conference event where the evolution of these languages is discussed. The SDL Forum Society is a non-profit organisation established by language users and tool providers to promote and develop the set of modelling languages recommended by ITU (ASN.1, MSC, SDL, eODL, TTCN and URN). There is a significant convergence between the languages specified by ITU-T and the set of UML notations offered by OMG (Object Management Group), which are usually covered in the UML Models conference (http://www.modelsconference.org/). To take this convergence into account, the scope of the SDL Forum conference has been extended to include the use of precise UML models, combining the strong areas of the ITU languages with the pragmatics of UML to produce profitable code and effective implementations. The SDL Forum addresses topics related to the modelling and analysis of reactive systems, distributed systems and real-time systems such as telecommunications, automotive, aerospace and web-based applications. The conference programme will include: � presentations from invited speakers � tutorials � presentation of research and industrial papers � workshops � tool demonstrations and posters � excellent networking opportunities The intended audience includes users of modelling techniques (in industrial, research and standardization contexts), tool vendors and language researchers.

Topics ------ The aim of the forum is to anticipate and influence the future trends and to focus on issues that are important to its expected delegates. Authors are therefore invited to submit papers on topics related to System Design Languages including (but not limited to): � Promoting System Design Languages: Teaching, learning and describing the languages; standardization; integration of and relations between standards; methodology for the use of the languages. � Integration of System Design Languages in theory and in tools: Use of UML models in a formal way; combined use of different System Design Languages; language and notation interoperability; integration of supporting tools. � Evolution of languages and notations: New language constructs and semantics; evaluations of languages/notations; time, performance, security, and other non-functional aspects; languages to define language constructs and semantics. � Model-driven development: Model-based systems engineering; analysis and transformation of models; reuse approaches; verification and validation of models; systematic testing based on and applied to models. � Industrial application reports: Classical application areas such as telecommunication; emerging application areas such as automotive, aerospace, hardware, Web-centric; new telecommunication contexts; specification, validation and testing of real time and distributed systems. Submissions ----------- Submissions should be previously unpublished, written in English, no longer than 16 pages (including the illustrations and bibliography) and using the LNCS style. Submission will only be accepted in electronic form via http://filonova.no/sdl05/submit. Acceptable file formats for initial submission are PostScript (compressed) and PDF. The proceedings are to be published as a book in the LNCS series. Accepted papers must be presented at the workshop by one of the authors.
