i am nearly a newbie as far as ASN.1 goes, so my question may be both vague and silly.

i was wondering as to which version of the ASN.1 specification and what subsets would

suffice, if i were to write my own ASN.1 BER encoder/decoder as i believe there are quite

a few versions of the relevant ITU-T documents. note that i'd need support for MACROs

for things s.a. Operations, Errors etc. i am interested in the minimal subset.

 

any hints, information or pointers would be appreciated.
